In the spring of 2020, major changes were underway. The pandemic led to a rapid shutdown and within a few days we had evacuated the office and everyone had to work from home. My wife Marit moved back to our house and the apartment became my new office until I retired at the end of December 2021. We were lucky to have two homes. I could concentrate on my work and we didn't have to worry about infecting each other.
I hated these masks we had to wear and it took time before I accepted that I also had to wear a mask - at least when I was going to shops or traveling by bus.
When I was walking around it annoyed me that people couldn't keep their distance and it felt like I had a kind of built-in radar that set the course from being able to pass others at a safe distance. The radar worked constantly to find the correct course.
Shops were mostly closed and there were constantly new demands depriving us of freedom that we had to deal with.
During the first period of lockdown, I didn't go out for several weeks apart from short shopping trips to buy food. I prefered to take these trips in the evening just before closing time.
It became a daily routine to check infection numbers, and it was frightening to see that the infection numbers in the immediate area suddenly increased rapedly.
It is the summer of 2021 and society has partially reopened after lockdown. We are happy but will it last? Is the pandemic over? No Unfortunately. There will be another lockdown, but if nothing else we will get a well-deserved break through the summer.
We went on holiday in Stavern - a small coastal town not too far from Oslo. The weather was brilliant and it was great to be able to be with the family again without thinking about infection and other dangers.
We really wanted to go to Denmark, but there was still a lot of uncertainty and travel restrictions for us to take a chance on Denmark this summer.
It's late September and things are basically pretty good. Bright late summer sun and I'm out taking pictures again like I used to do before the pandemic.
